DOG WAR

SCROLL DOWN

DOG WAR

THE FIGHT TO END THE DOG MEAT TRADE

Each year, tens of millions of dogs are farmed or stolen, and then slaughtered for food throughout Asia. This increasingly stigmatized trade has become a flashpoint in South Korea, where some believe the custom originated, and where cultural and generational shifts have drawn entrenched battle lines.

DOG WAR follows an American team of combat veterans as they fight to stop the dog meat trade in South Korea. Employing covert and overt operations, they disrupt this shadow world, saving hundreds of dogs while raising questions about cultural imperialism. DOG WAR spotlights a country in transition, revealing universal questions about animal rights vs. human livelihood, heroism vs. vigilantism, and the breach of contract with man’s best friend.

We took dogs and domesticated them. That responsibility should never be forgotten—that we have taken them into our hearts and homes, that we took them out of the wild. And we cannot betray their love, their trust, their loyalty.
